           Coffee & Fountain Merchandising Ideas
Now is the perfect time to run a coffee and fountain promotion. Coffee and fountain promotions are traffic builders and can be combined with other products to build complementary sales. Here are some ideas our food mart clients have successfully used to increase their transaction rates and add to the success of their business.

Promotional Design Ideas

Coffee:

1.Coffee and Donut and Newspaper.  This promotion is a price leader and will drive product volume and customer visits. The promotion must be priced under $2.00.

2. Coffee / breakfast sausage/sandwich special. This promotion emphasizes breakfast snack bar items. It is important to keep the price at $.99 cents due to fast food chain promotions.

3. Hershey’s chocolate milk and donut / juice specials. This promotion expands the morning line. This promotion appeals to the non-coffee drinker and can be used as a hard cost leader or a softer complementary promotion.

Fountain:

1. Free fountain 16 oz. coupon to all our morning customers. This promotion encourages the morning customers to visit the station in the afternoon and evening also. Helps build customer frequency, fountain sales and the customer’s buying habits.

2. Discounted price programs. Consider following some of our best fountain retailers. They feature price 32 oz. for two months, then 44 oz., then no promotion for a month, on a regular basis.

3. Continuity programs.  Consider offering a free reusable plastic cup with the purchase of a 32 oz. drink or a fill-up. Cups could be changes monthly, featuring professional teams or your brand logo.

4. Reusable cup trade-in program.

Invite your fountain customers to bring in a competitor’s reusable fountain cup. Trade it in for one of ours with the purchase of a 32 oz. beverage.

5. Buy one, get on.  Buy a 32 oz. fountain soft drink for .79 cents and get a (brand x) candy bar for only .39 cents, or buy a 44 oz. fountain drink for only .89 cents and get a candy bar for only .25 cents.

6. Credit card appreciation day. Free fountain Coke 20 oz. with fill up credit card purchase your brand card.

7. Satisfaction guarantee. Once your fountain operation is running smoothly, with great tasting results, consider offering a guarantee. If a customer is not 100% satisfied, refund the full purchase price.
